Salvatore Ferragamo, 2013 Relais & Châteaux Ambassador, CEO of Il Borro and new member of Relais & Châteaux.

Salvatore Ferragamo, the grandson of the famous Italian shoemaker, has learned from his family the importance of tradition, quality, savoir-faire and in particular the need to listen to what your heart is telling you, to live your passion. His passion has led him to winemaking and the hotel sector. Heading for Tuscany, in 1993 he started to work on the renovation of Il Borro, on the family land, together with his father. This picture-perfect medieval hamlet is today a setting for “unique experiences and yet simple ones: an afternoon with your family, wife and children; some freshly picked tomatoes for lunch from the hotel’s kitchen garden, with a trickle of olive oil produced in the surrounding area… .” An extraordinary art de vivre, which is extremely precious in today’s world. There are also signs of a skilfully modernised heritage and know-how: “We made sure we had the right resources so that we could give full expression to and get the very best out of the terroir we had inherited from our ancestors. Today’s progress helps the past and vice-versa. This is the key to our renewal.” In 2013, Salvatore Ferragamo will be committed to defending a Relais & Châteaux art de vivre perfectly in tune with our times.
