Jaume Tàpies elected as the new President of Relais & Châteaux with 88 percent of the votes

Jaume Tàpies is the 4th President to assume this international function at the head of the Finest Association in the World since its foundation in 1954. He has just been elected in the official election during the 31st International Congress of Relais & Châteaux in Geneva, which was attended by 80 percent of the 453 members. After 18 years as President, Régis Bulot, who was the driving force behind the internationalisation of the Association, its modernisation and a string of successful projects, is happy to hand over the reins to his successor: “Jaume Tàpies is the new President of Relais & Châteaux. I have known him for a long time. We have worked together for 12 years on the Board of Directors. He is a true professional in our sector. He is familiar with the difficulties, the challenges and the rules. The results of this election testify to the fact that he can bring people together”.

Jaumé Tàpies is the owner of the Relais & Châteaux El Castell de Ciutat, located in Seu d’Urgell in Spain. He is 37 years old, speaks seven languages and runs the family property. Jaumé Tàpies is married and has two children. He loves competition. In the sports arena he was the three times Spanish cross-country skiing champion.

Jaumé Tàpies is ready to take on the task that awaits him, “After 13 years as the delegate for Spain and Portugal, 12 as a member of the Board of Directors including 8 as its secretary, I believe that I am ready to face the enormous challenge of taking over from Régis Bulot. I enter into the commitment of assuming this function with a dual desire: to be responsible and available. I have a vision: to reinvent our success which necessarily involves pursuing the development initiated by Régis Bulot so brilliantly when he took over from Jo Olivereau.”

A final word from the new President, “Several thoughts spring to mind at this very emotional time for me. First of all, memories of the ground I have covered. Work in the family business and today this new task. My thoughts also turn to Régis Bulot who put his faith in me as a delegate and then as a member of the Board of Directors. He is an example for me. His support and that of Jo Olivereau give me additional strength. I look to the future imbued with unity and enthusiasm.”
