Our annual guide becomes Taste of the World

The Relais & Châteaux Rendez-Vous took place in Paris from 16 to 19 November 2014. This event, marked by sharing and generosity, was the occasion to relate the new publication Taste of the World, admit 36 new members and award 12 Relais & Châteaux Trophies.

“A world of tastes for you to enjoy”, these are the words of Philippe Gombert on the first page of this magnificent publication. The promise is kept and throughout the pages doors are opening to the universe of Relais & Châteaux, whilst highlighting the strict demands on quality and excellence that are ours.

Leafing through this beautiful book means leafing through the world which presents itself to you, introducing continents, countries, people. The soul of a territory, its cultural richness, its terroir, its cuisine, its hospitality represent the taste of the world. The publication invites the reader, through many illustrations, to savour a region sometimes unknown or an unexpected scenery.

It is a true invitation to travel: with the hot air balloon over the valley of Göreme in Cappadocia, enjoying the charm of seclusion in New Zealand, British Columbia, where the mountains touch the sky, the shimmering colours of a preserved Morocco, a seducing Provence which exudes the scents of lavender.

These enchanting landscapes on all five continents are described by writers and lead to intoxicating flavours that the Taste of the World presents as a testimonial. By tasting the world, we accept the appeal to our five sense and trigger our curiosity to inhale the fragrances of a country and succumb to the ecstasy of its savours. From an infusion with white lotus flowers created by Kyoung-Won Park in her restaurant in Seoul to the seaweed served with scallops at Andrew Fairlie in Scotland, the chefs have always highlighted their region by disclosing the gems of their terroir.

The Travel Journal is a supplement to the Taste of the World. This annual publication in pocket format presents the Relais & Châteaux Association and its topical news for 2015: the new members, the 2015 Trophies as well as an exhaustive index of all the member properties of Relais & Châteaux.
