In a park where the breeze is infused by the subtle scents of palm trees, oaks and magnolias, stands
a splendid 1906 revival home with tall white columns that make it look like an ancient Greek palace. Inside, the period furniture, floral fabrics, fireplaces and dark wooden floors give it a distinctly southern charm. On the programme: swimming, tennis, golf, exploring the region’s white sandy beaches, cotton plantations and discovering the culinary talents of the chef Tarver King. This ambassador of New American cuisine creates generous, colourful dishes that positively burst with flavour, such as his salmon poached in olive oil, served with mushy peas flavoured with pine kernels, lemon confit and mint.
