Wake up to snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro and the distant roars of lions. Ol Donyo is a pioneer amongst bush camps, and a forerunner in the field of sustainable tourism: by working hand in hand with the local Maasai people from the beginning, it has been able to conserve the lions through guaranteeing the people an income. This magnificent and stylish camp on the slopes of the Chyulu Hills has been refurbished throughout and offers a magical, almost mystical experience. It enjoys a stunning location, overlooking the plain with the savannah at its feet stretching as far as the eye can see – Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance and animals all around. Wildlife can be tracked on foot, on horseback or in a four-wheel drive vehicle, or you can sit in a hide just twenty paces from some of the largest tusker elephants in the world. This is Africa.
