We have the Franciscan monks to thank. It is in one of the many buildings they erected in the loveliest and most secluded parts of Italy - here in the Piedmont vineyards - that the Relais San Maurizio was created. The formerly Spartan rooms are now suites with clean and luminous lines and views of the vineyards. Beneath its dry stone arches, between blond wood and Italian mosaics, you can choose between the “Bain barrique” with red wine, the massage with grape seed oil or wraps with honey and Merlot. Another original offering: with the help of trained dogs, you can discover how to hunt for white Alba truffles and taste the fruits of your own labour with a great Piedmont vintage red wine.
