Situated 50 metres from the place du Marché, this fine 19th century building is the ideal starting point to explore on foot, by carriage or boat the historic town of Bruges. Mythical and romantic, Bruges is the perfect place to spend a few days unwinding in restaurants, museums and elegant boutiques. On your return to the Heritage, relax in one of the guest rooms with their unique, sophisticated decor or, if you prefer, in the comfortable lounge bar, Le Magnum. To savour local cuisine, head for the restaurant “Le Mystique” with its charm that has remained intact since 1869 where you will be privy to the delights of a 14th century wine cellar.
Hostellerie Lafarque - Domaine des Douys
Restaurant of a Grand Chef Relais & Châteaux and hotel in the country (Pepinster-Goffontaine)
Victor Hugo once said: “On a clear day the Vesdre valley sometimes resembles a ravine, sometimes a garden, but always a paradise.” Set in 13 hectares of parkland, covered with ramsons, where roe deer, wild boar, pheasants, squirrels and herons gambol, this former residence of a wool industry tycoon dates back to the 1920s. Nowadays, this establishment marries well-being with dining pleasures. Adding that extra touch to the local gastronomy, chef Samuel Blanc creates culinary masterpieces such as grilled Pays de Racan pigeon served on a bed of Puy lentils, with a Leffe Brown sauce. The junior suites “Princesse de Liège”, “Comptoir de Laines” and “Passion Simenon” reflect regional themes.
Auberge du Moulin Hideux
Hotel and restaurant in the woods (Noirefontaine)
The Relais & Châteaux spirit really means something at Le Moulin Hideux. As the first hotel outside of France to become a member of the prestigious association back in 1960, it is from father down to son that the Lahire family welcomes you to this magnificent 17th century mill set in the heart of the Semois Valley. A long walk in the forest, a few strokes in the heated pool, an aperitif near the log fire or in the shady garden next to a babbling brook… and you will be ready to be ushered to your table to savour the cooking of Julien Lahire and his team. But watch out, you will soon become part of the family and after that it will be very hard to leave!
