St. Andrews, New Brunswick

Once a busy fishing port and ship building center, St. Andrews in New Brunswick is a now a seaside resort town that has retained all of its charm since it was founded in 1783. The antique clapboard houses flanking King Street once housed the British Loyalists who settled here after fleeing New England during the Revolution. The shops and cafes on Water Street are for modern day visitors who appreciate the sculpture, pottery and jewelry of local artists.

Surrounded by Passamaquoddy Bay which flows out to the magnificent Bay of Fundy and the Atlantic behond, St. Andrews is full of picturesque town, country and waterside scenes that have long attracted painters and photographers. May to October is a favorite time to visit. World-class golf, whale-watching, and sea kayaking is at its peak, and Kingsbrae Horticultural Garden puts on a brilliant show from spring to fall.
