Stretching from the Mediterranean to Lake Tiberias, Galilee is composed of steeply-sided valleys and snowy mountain tops (it is home to the highest peaks in Israel) clad in greenery. On one side, labyrinthine Zefat, is a charming and historical holy city where Kabbalah first came into being and where the first Hebrew printing press was set up. Hazor, with its archaeological excavations, is also a major local attraction. Finally Lake Tiberias (or Sea of Galilee) and its beaches is a delightful site for swimming and water sports.
