Cabo San Lucas

Cabo San Lucas marks the tip of the Baja California region in Mexico, an arid peninsula separated from the rest of the country by the Sea of Cortez. The perfect cape, famous for its seaside resort and natural rock arch.

Located between the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of California, Cabo San Lucas is a remote place that has been redeveloped as a tourist destination, attracting millions of tourists every year. Standing at the southernmost tip of Baja California, a desert peninsula dotted with huge candelabra cacti that stretches for several thousand kilometres down from the US border, Cabo San Lucas is a large seaside resort with hotels, restaurants and luxury marinas springing up along the shoreline in recent years.

Cabo San Lucas is famous the world over for the Arco or Land’s End Arch, an arch-shaped rock where the waters of the Pacific meet those of the Gulf of California, also known as the Sea of Cortez. It also boasts a stretch of sand known as the “beach of love”. Both sites can be reached via a boat shuttle service. Another reason for heading out to sea between January and April is to see the grey whales, thousands of which come from the cold waters of the Arctic to mate off the coast of Baja California. Between Cabo San Lucas and the neighbouring resort of San José del Cabo there is a vast beach of golden sand, perfect for lazing in the sun – one of the main reasons for visiting this wild region, isolated from the rest of Mexico.
