Ribe is one of the oldest towns in Denmark. This market town, with its semi-timbered houses on the western coast, was founded back in the 9th century, during the era of the valiant Vikings. The museum “Ribes Vikinger” pays tribute to that period. The landmark feature of the town is the magnificent cathedral boasting a highly original portal with Romanesque sculptures (the only one of its kind in Denmark).
