Killarney National Park

The 13,000 hectares of this park in the region of Cork/Kerry have been designated a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. The forest which surrounds the three lakes of Lough Leane, Muckross and Upper, is home to a herd of deer.

In the park, you shouldn’t forget to visit Ross Castle which was one of the last strongholds to hold out against Cromwell, Torc Falls and the famous “Lady Views” on the Upper Lake named after Queen Victoria and her ladies-in-waiting without forgetting the gorges in the Gap of Dunloe, which are quite simply splendid.
