European Football Championship 2008 in Austria and Switzerland

In June 2008, the whole football world will look to Klagenfurt, when the world’s third largest football event, the European Championship, will be held in Austria and Switzerland. Klagenfurt, the capital of Carinthia, is one of the eight host cities of the European Football Championship 2008. On June 8, 12 and 16, the best in European football will meet in Klagenfurt. Germany, Croatia and Poland will fight for the quarter finals of Euro 08 in the new Wörthersee Stadium.

Ironman

Europe’s biggest triathlon event in Klagenfurt. Up to 2000 athletes from all over the world come to the annual Carinthian Ironman Austria event in Klagenfurt! The “iron men“ start at dawn from Klagenfurt lido for their tour-de-force of 3.8 km swimming, 108 km cycling and 42.2 km running. Thousands of fans support the athletes who push their bodies to the absolute limit here in Klagenfurt.

Beach Volleyball Grand Slam tournament

Every summer, the best beach volleyball players in the world meet in Klagenfurt.

And when the fit, suntanned athletes in their colourful dresses pass the ball on the sand of Klagenfurt lido in the Beach Volleyball arena, the euphoric crowd of spectators makes the arena sizzle and cheer on the beach volleyball players with drum rolls and hip hop sounds.
