Rhône Valley

The Vercors and Grenoble

In this immense nature park in the northern Alps, the hills, gorges, coombs, forests, plateaux and valleys are an ideal place for walking and admiring exceptional landscapes and views.

However, the Vercors is known to many because of the Second World War when it was an important meeting place for the French Resistance. (The name Vercors was even adopted by a famous Resistance writer).

To the east, close to the Chartreuse Massif, Grenoble pays tribute to its famous men in museums and other commemorative establishments. In the district where Stendhal was born, St-Chef’s abbey, the old archbishop’s palace and Notre-Dame Cathedral make an enjoyable visit.
