Novacella Abbey


In the heart of the Dolomites near the Austrian border, the town of Bressanone-Brixen has one of the most admirable abbeys in the north of Italy. Novacella or Neustift Abbey is a mixture of Bavarian and Rococo styles forming an explosive combination. The cloister and frescoes and the library with its unique works (including some incunabula) are worth a prolonged visit.
