Castel Del Monte


This mighty octagonal castle with eight towers of the same shape was built in the 13th century by Frederick the 2nd of Swabia on the top of a hillside in the south of Italy. Its architecture, a combination of classic, oriental and Gothic inspiration is unique worldwide and it is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
