Italian Riviera and Albenga

The Italian Riviera, just like its French neighbour, has everything it takes for a successful holiday on the Mediterranean coast. From Ventimiglia to Cinque Terre, you can choose between the pleasures of the seaside or culture.

Bordighera, San Remo, Savona, Genoa, Portofino, La Spezia... Over more than 300 km, the Italian Riviera unfurls its string of sites and towns - all of them with their special attractions. This coastal arc between France and Tuscany invites exploration.

Ventimiglia appeals on account of its atmosphere and its colourful market with bric à brac of all shapes and sizes. Bordighera and San Remo are able to combine with some elegance the charms of a seaside resort with an architectural heritage. Around Imperia, you really have to go inland to discover the villages like Cervo perched on the hillside, known as the “painters’ paradise”. The two towns of Savona and Genoa are just right for those looking for the bubbly Italy with its lively terraces and walks at dusk when the sun goes down. The labyrinth of tiny streets in Old Genoa and, in particular, the Aquarium, are spots not to be missed. Nearby, the village of Albenga is famous for its attractive historic centre with its cathedral, town walls and crenelated tower. Beyond Genoa, the region of Cinque Terre is perhaps what best sums up the Riviera. These five villages perched on the cliff side above the sea, in an incredible setting, have long captivated tourists as has Portofino, the haunt of Italian and international celebrities.
