Brittany

Life in Brittany and its destiny will be everlastingly linked to the sea. A land of valiant seafarers, its contours sharply carved out by the waves, it derives its living from the sea and its produce. Away from the coast, the interior is not so well-known, with its scattering of picturesque little towns in a protected natural setting. Rugged in places, often difficult of access, Brittany, like its inhabitants, reveals a treasure of beauty and hospitality once you get to know it.

The Festivals Route
Heirs to ancient melodious traditions, Breton music sounds forth throughout the year at gatherings which are rarely matched elsewhere in France in terms of size.

The Painter’s Route
A painters’ colony grew up around Gauguin in Brittany between 1886 and 1896, bringing together around twenty artists of various nationalities who wanted to invent new forms of artistic expression...

The Cider Route
Made in Brittany since the 13th th century, cider is now an integral part of the culture and collective memory of the Breton people. Each area or "terroir" is associated with a particular variety of apple and, therefore, a typical kind of cider. Great vintages such as AOC Cornouaille and Royal Guillevic Label Rouge are the drinks of real connoisseurs…

The Oyster Route
Oysters are very rich in iron, low in calories and a good source of vitamins and minerals. France is the fourth-largest producer of oysters in the world, at 130,000 tonnes, after the United States, Japan and Korea.

Brittany’s magical coasts
With 2,730 km of coastline, Brittany offers an infinite variety of coastal landscapes: islands, rocky escarpments, bays, sandy beaches, rias, salt marshes, peninsulas, gulfs, etc. Landscapes which change with the rise and fall of the tide.
