UNESCO recently unveiled the latest additions to its World Heritage List and has chosen to include Bordeaux, “Port of the Moon” amongst its prestigious sites!
“The historic centre of Bordeaux, Port of the Moon, the port city in south-west France is inscribed as an inhabited historic city, an outstanding urban and architectural example, created in the Age of the Enlightenment, whose values continued up to the first half of the 20th century.”
By inscribing the Bordeaux port district on the World Heritage List, UNESCO recognises not only its superb architectural heritage but also to its strong cultural influence, which has continued since the Age of the Enlightenment.
