Faro, the main town and main attraction in the Algarve, has much to offer the tourist. The best way to enjoy its wonderful atmosphere is to stroll down the pedestrian streets which lead down through Moorish remains and traces of medieval times, to the delightful little fishing port, still a hub of activity.

If you head east, along the lagoon, you will find the entrancing village of Olhao with its distinctively cubic architecture and its Moorish-style houses with their açoteias. Take the boat at the port and cross the canal to the beaches on the nearby islands of the Nature Park of Ria Formosa where the only options are relaxation and pleasure.
