When it comes to safari parks and game reserves, Africa is well endowed. With Kenya and Tanzania, South Africa is the third most important country with its northern reserves and its famous Kruger National Park... and Kapama Game Reserve. Kapama Reserve is an immense private property of 12,000 hectares submerged in the bush, located to the north of a country reputed for its high density of wild animals. It also has the honour of being home to the Big Five, the famous five animals which are the “kings” of Africa, the lion, the leopard, the rhinoceros, the elephant and the buffalo. Throughout the year, you can go on safari accompanied by experienced rangers either in open safari vehicles or on guided bush walks, to see close up the wild life in the reserve where there are also impalas, Nyala antelopes, Grivet monkeys and multicoloured birds. You can go on spectacular outings either at dawn or bathed in a gentle sunset glow, at a time when the animals are spared the harsh glare of the midday sun and dare show their sheer force and presence.
The reserve has a long tourist tradition with top-quality lodges and camps, including Camp Jabulani, and also offers elephant-back safaris and hot balloon safari flights when you can observe herds of wild animals roaming over the savannah, against the backdrop of Drankensberg, a chain of steep-sloped mountains clad in green.
