Seu d’Urgell

Lost in the heart of the Spanish Pyrenees, the unusual destiny of Seul d’Urgell made it an important Episcopal town and capital of the district of Alt Urgell in the province of Lerida.

In the town centre is the Cathedral of Santa Maria, in Lombard/Romanesque style, symbolising the importance of religion for its inhabitants. Originally, the Bishop of Urgell owned part of the Principality of Andorra and is still co-Prince of this State.
