The Costa Brava is situated on the border of France and Spain, on the Mediterranean cost, just above the Gulf of Lion. This ideal situation gives the region very sunny weather, combined with a limpid sea, making it popular with swimmers.
Girona, the capital, is located slightly inland, and is an ideal base for visiting the entire coast. The city is not devoid of attraction with its medieval town centre, Arab baths dating from the Middle Ages, a Catalan/Romanesque style Benedictine monastery, not forgetting the Gothic St. Mary’s Cathedral and numerous museums.
