Recognised as a sovereign state by the UN in 1993, the Principality of Andorra is composed of a series of high plateaux, boxed in by the Pyrenees, between France and Spain.

Andorra-la-Vella serves as its capital. The rest of the country is rural countryside reached by small mountain roads against a backdrop of rugged, wild nature, with a wild beauty of its own, in the splendid Madriu-Perafita-Claror valley in particular.
