Horizontal bike and even bent bike! A sports gathering within everyone’s reach
October in Provence has made itself the meeting place for horizontal bikes sponsored and organised by L’Abbaye de Sainte Croix and the "Barjonaute", a first in the sector and definitely not last in view of the success the novelty had.
Did you know:
To begin with, there was the horizontal bike then there was the upright bike… And yet, the former is far more comfortable than the latter.
Who has not heard of backache, neck ache, a sore bottom or wrists, tendonitis, etc. when using an upright bike! Nowadays, the horizontal bike has the enormous advantage of being no longer ergonomical but being extremely comfortable whilst remaining sportive. It is the only bike that adapts itself to the body and not the other way round!
Just to bring together usefulness and pleasure, the meeting place was located on the very site of Sainte Croix for a circuit combining sport, riding and culture as there was a picnic a the Abbaye de Silvacane, at the Roque d’Anthéron, Cistercian abbey and mecca for many concerts given in the setting of the piano festival not less known than the Roque.
We were able to see and see again, examine and give details of all sorts of vehicles as there were “Trikes” and even horizontal Tricycles, “two-wheelers” and a tandem!
In fact this sport can be practised on a modern version with 3 wheels. You will not have to think about your balance and take rapturously advantage of the scenery even better since the half-lying position is perfectly adapted to it. The 3 wheels also have the advantage of being able to be easily practised on hills and therefore avoiding the Tarmac.
The other more "tricky" version is done on 2 wheels and needs a little bit of training beforehand to “get” your balance.
At the end of the day, you will have no pain or stiffness, just the pleasure of a good ride.
Two bikes will be left at Sainte Croix for lovers of new sensations, and the Barjonaute is confident it can organise the exploring of the Camargue on a tricycle for you, a brilliant idea for a family or friendly outing, or even an original weekend, end-of-year gift and the pleasure of sharing.
