The Hôtel du Castellet joins Relais & Châteaux

Ideally situated between Marseille and the French Riviera, the Hôtel du Castellet enhances Relais & Châteaux’s already prestigious choice of hotels thanks to two major assets : a private airport and a former Grand Prix racing circuit !

Imagine four-star luxury at the foot of one of the most beautiful villages in the Var. Picture a private international airport less than one kilometre from the hotel, serviced by a shuttle link. Then imagine a racing circuit of world renown within the same perimeter. The Hôtel du Castellet resort offers all this, enjoying 47 rooms, 13 of which are suites. And since last November it has joined the ranks of Relais & Châteaux.

In the words of Arnaud Potdevin, the hotel’s managing director: “These three solely-owned assets are brought together in one location, making the Hôtel du Castellet unique in France, and possibly even in Europe.”

As the airport never closes, private aircraft can arrive at any hour. There is even a helicopter available for trips down to the coast or to the Verdon gorges. The racing track, which hosted the Formula 1 French Grand Prix for many years, also boasts a superior go cart track. In addition, the hotel offers a golf training centre, swimming pool and magnificent mountain bike track suitable for all levels of fitness.

The hotel, which is well-suited to short stays, has not left its Provencal roots behind. The restaurant offers carefully selected local produce, while just a short step away is some of the region’s most stunning scenery, such as the perched villages of Le Castellet and La Cadière d’Azur. And Marseille is just 35 minutes away! Furthermore, thanks to its close ties with the region’s AOC Bandol winegrowers, the hotel offers guests the chance to visit the vineyards of the Domaine de la Bégude in decommissioned American Army jeeps !

On the edge of a forest of pine trees overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, the Hôtel du Castellet is one of the region’s most charming properties. Guest rooms are painted in hues of honey, lavender and grape and there are plenty of sun-drenched terraces. Grand Chef Christophe Bacquié has stamped his style on the Monte Cristo, the prestigious gourmet restaurant of the hotel. The cuisine is based on seasonal and Mediterranean produce enlivened by a hint of flavours from further afield. For absolute relaxation there is the pool, golf course and spa. When night falls, the gazebos are illuminated, to highlight the beauty of the grounds. ...Read more
