Expérience Pommery #4 - l’emprise du lieu

The Estate, being steeped in history, outstanding and in full operation all at the same time, was what inspired Daniel Buren, organiser of the " L’emprise du lieu " exhibition running from 29 March to 1 November 2007. For " L’emprise du lieu ", Pommery Experience #4, Daniel Buren asked for contributions from 37 artists of international fame.

There is nothing mundane about the venues made available : the works on show breathe the day-to-day atmosphere of our cellars, where work is in full swing.

One of the works to be found there is Tadashi Kawamata’s intriguing Cathedral of Chairs, rearing up towards the peak of the chalkpit, its source of natural light. Another remarkable sight is Jacqueline Dauriac’s creation, which turns the underground passages into a display of colours.
