Azay-Le-Rideau


Azay-le-Rideau castle was built in the early 16th century by Gilles Berthelot, a financier of the day. It stands majestically on a small island in the River Indre and offers a gripping view: its façades are skilfully finished, its little towers reminiscent of the castles in children’s fairytales and, inside, the furniture and tapestries are a testimony to the grandeur of a bygone age.
