This enormous country is synonymous with the idea of fun and laid-back relaxation. It is confident in its colonial culture and its towns are gently cradled by the strains of music. It also boasts fantastic natural spaces on the coast, in Amazonia and in the Pantanal.

The largest country in South America can hardly be summed up in a single word. Leaving aside the common denominator of the language – Portuguese -, Brazil is a kaleidoscope of places and ambiences which are so complex that even if you visit on more than one occasion you will fail to exhaust all its charm. Amongst its major attractions are its towns: Rio, Copacabana beach, the carnival and the Corcovado Christ, veritable legends in their own times; Salvador de Bahia, with its ethnic diversity, and its famous colonial quarter; Brasilia, the capital with its futuristic architecture; Sao Luis and its Portuguese remains; Fortaleza renowned for its hospitality; Belem and its cultural diversity; Manaus of the Amazon rain forest and its exuberant nature… Amazonia, the green lung of the southern hemisphere, finds its greatest expression in Brazil. Canoe and boat trips on the river (and its tributaries) will leave you with precious memories. Further to the south, nature lovers will thrill to the fury of the waters of the Iguazu Falls (on the border with Argentina) and the wealth of wildlife in the Pantanal reserve, with its thousands of birds, mammals and reptiles. All along the coast, beaches and islands offer a gentler waterfront experience, just the thing if you want to slip into that utterly laid-back pace of life which is the forte of the Brazilian people.
