Owner and Maître de Maison of the Côte Saint-Jacques & Spa I invite you to stay at the most beautiful vineyards of Burgundy to discover this region that has long brought together religion and wine
I was born in Joigny, the Gate to Burgundy, as the sign at the entrance of the town suggests. It is where the region opens its arms to welcome you. I was not rocked by vineyard but by the Yonne River. This stunning course of water flows beneath our windows and is for me both soothing and inspiring. I would like to wake up in the middle of the night and be alone at the water’s edge with my line, waiting to catch some fish. Burgundy is a real paradise for nature lovers and those who want a bit of peace. It’s a region where we can go from the vineyards to the wineries and form the abbeys to the forest; a place where the diversity of climates may soon be classified as world heritage.
Relais & Châteaux proposes its Routes du Bonheur for your inspiration: they are suggestions of itineraries that you can adapt to your preferences and desired experiences. Example for a four-night stay from €898* * Minimum indicative rate per person, subject to availability, on the basis of a double room with double occupancy, including accommodation, breakfast and dinner (menu, without beverages) in the properties suggested for the itinerary. Activities on site and nearby must be reserved by you.
A romantic escape for gourmets on the banks of the river Yonne
My grandmother had started a boarding house, mostly visited by sales representatives. My father transformed it into a hotel with a restaurant, benefiting from its position on the National 6 and from his skills as a chef. Today, the Côte Saint-Jacques is still a boarding house, where hospitality, comfort and cuisine are key values. A simple, modern place behind which the Yonne always flows.

La Fabuloserie
This outsider art museum is rather unknown, created by the architect and painter-sculptor Alain Bourbonnais in the sheds of his house in the countryside of Dicy. The museum houses wonderful pieces of atypical art imagined by eccentric fantasist and inspired artists who were farmers, miners or just young herdsmen. In the garden, don’t miss the Petit Pierre’s ride, a thoroughly poetic work which I always take pleasure in discovering.
With its many houses, partly made from wood and its historic fortifications, Noyers-sur-Serein is listed among the most beautiful villages in France. Many artists have lived in the village for decades. It is at number 53, place du Grenier à Sel, where one finds the famous Burgundian ceramist François Gueneau’s gallery. He is so talented that he was asked to create the serving plates of Côte Saint-Jacques.

This is a house quite like our own. Dominique Loiseau has created a family atmosphere in a place where a part of the history of gastronomy is deeply engrained (Alexandre Dumaine had already earned three Michelin stars in 1935). The chef, Patrick Bertron, has worked here for many years with Bernard and knows perfectly how to restore the spirit of the great chefs who preceded him while developing his own personal cuisine.

More than ninety years of flavours in the heart of Burgundy’s vineyards
From father to son, the Lameloise family has long since cultivated the art of gastronomy and hospitality. Jacques Lameloise has recently passed the reins over to Eric Pras, his former assistant cook, who now possesses the kitchen keys for the delight of Jean and all the guests who visit this place. This former 15th century coaching inn is an unmissable stage on the old National 6 and wine route

For a number of years, the ’Entre-Deux-Monts’Castle offers an unusual visit of this historical monument, built in the 17th century .Your journey will start by a truffle hunt on the truffle farm where dog’s skills are sometimes used to find and unearth the truffle and will end with truffle tasting served with a glass of wine. Share spectacular sunsets with us overlooking Lyon
Firstly, there is the former 17th century convent which evokes all the charm of the Italian Renaissance behind its ochre walls. Then, there are luscious gardens and a stunning view which spans across Old Lyon up to the magnificent Alps. Everything is sophisticated here at Villa Florentine, from the wonderful rooms to the chef Davy Tissot’s cooking, which we can enjoy above the City of Lights.

Cluny Abbey
It is hard for us today to imagine that during the 12th century Cluny was the most important abbey of the West. Founded three centuries earlier in 910, the abbey has congregated nearly 10,000 monks. The “promenade of angels” maybe has lost its shine since then, but it remains one of the key places for Christianity. Here, we also find a lovely museum of Art and Archeology with beautiful works and Roman sculptures.
Lamartine House Maison de Lamartine
It is at Milly, alongside other children of winemakers, where Alphonse de Lamartine grew up. A carefree and happy childhood marks the work of the writer. In 1830, a short time after having been elected at the French Academy, he inherited the family house before running unsuccessfully for a seat at the parliament at Mâcon. Here, he wrote some of his famous Méditations poétiques and some of his finest poems. The house, which is still a wine growing estate, is open to visitors.
