Maître de Maison of the Hotel de La Cigogne and Swiss delegate of Relais & Châteaux
I invite you to discover this outstandingly beautiful region, between the lakes and the Jura mountains

I invite you to discover this outstandingly beautiful region, between the lakes and the Jura mountains, with its extraordinary variety of landscapes and unspoiled nature that will amaze and invigorate your senses. Come and breathe in the wonderful air and, depending on the time of year, enjoy the scent of flowers, the smell of the orchards and cider-presses, the changing colours of the forests and the countless acres of vineyards. Beginning in Calvin’s city, I suggest a trip along the Joux Valley, passing by Lausanne, before moving on to Montreux and Rochers de Naye. A wonderfully restful and enchanting trip.

Relais & Châteaux proposes its Routes du Bonheur for your inspiration: they are suggestions of itineraries that you can adapt to your preferences and desired experiences. Our advisors are at your disposal to individualise your routes and help you make reservations at our properties.
Example for a four-night stay from €849*
* Minimum indicative rate per person, subject to availability, on the basis of a double room with double occupancy, including accommodation, breakfast and dinner (menu, without beverages) in the properties suggested for the itinerary.

My Route du Bonheur
First stage: two days, one night

Hôtel de la Cigogne

An enchanting stay in the heart of Geneva
Hôtel de la Cigogne
This peaceful haven right in the heart of the city enjoys a unique location between the lake and the old town, bounded by the Rues-Basses (low streets) and the Rue du Rhône, where you can find the most stylish shops and chic boutiques in Geneva. A truly unique building, La Cigogne Hotel combines period furniture with fine works of art, a refined interior combined with the latest technology. The atmosphere inside will guarantee you have a peaceful and quiet stay. The attentive and dedicated staff will ensure your visit is a time of happiness and wellbeing. A reflection of Geneva.

La Grange Park and its rose garden

Take time to stroll through this green oasis on the edge of town. There are approximately 12,000 different roses and nearly 200 different varieties. You can stroll between the ponds and fountains, with the beautiful lake view in front of you. The ideal place to wind down and relax.

Coffee at a pavement café

At the heart of the old town, Bourg-de-Four Square is one of those “typically Geneva” places where you can sip away at a coffee outdoors. On nice days, depending on the time of day, you can sit in the shade of seventeenth and eighteenth century houses, where you’ll find students or people taking a break from work. A square that is very popular among Geneva’s inhabitants.

Lunch at Peney-Dessus, Relais & Chateaux The Domaine de Châteauvieux

Discover the countryside on the outskirts of town at this old winery. A lunch here will take you away from the stresses of the busy city. Surrounded by vineyards, Philippe Chevrier, chef since 1987, offers you seasonal and generous cuisine of the highest quality, with his two stars. This is one of the best restaurants in the country.

Lunch at the Relais & Chateaux Auberge du Lion d’Or in Cologny

First take in the panoramic view of the harbour from the heights of Cologny. Then taste the refined and inventive cuisine as prepared by the two chefs, Gilles Dupont and Thomas Byrne. As different as they are complementary, they share their passion with warmth and enthusiasm. In fine weather, don’t forget to book a table on the terrace.

L’Ermitage de Bernard Ravet

A warm family home
L’Ermitage de Bernard Ravet
The perfect example of a “family business”, Bernard Ravet’s restaurant is an exception in the world of luxury. The chef’s son is now his second chef and his daughters are wine expert and pastry chef respectively. His wife receives the guests in this vineyard house, which is a listed building, and where the rooms look out over beautiful gardens.

The Joux Valley

Imagine a small valley, ten kilometres long, where some of the most prestigious watchmakers in the world are located, with names such as Blancpain, Breguet, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre and many others. These complicated wonders are still created in the Joux Valley by the most prestigious Swiss watchmakers. A timeless setting…

My special favourite

For a pleasurable and adventurous ride, follow the Route du Vignoble, between Nyon and Morges. Take the time to stop off at “Au Cœur de la Côte” in Vinzel to enjoy a “Malakoff”, a sort of fried cheese donut. This local speciality is served with a smile in the friendly atmosphere of a small village inn.

Lavaux vineyards

Little known outside our borders, the Lavaux vineyards are a UNESCO World Heritage site. 830 hectares divided into terraces that face Lake Geneva, and the Alps so close you feel you could reach out and touch them. Magnificent! What better than to enjoy a drink against this idyllic backdrop? Stop by at a wine cellar in one of its wine-producing villages.

The Elysée museum in Lausanne

Devoted entirely to photography, this museum has one of the largest collections in Switzerland. It holds nearly 100,000 original prints from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries (Braun, Capa, Depardon, Avedon, etc.). Whether historical or modern, its exhibits are often original and always beautiful. A must!

Hôtel Victoria

An inspirational, unforgettable panorama
Hôtel Victoria
The Victoria is first and foremost the home of Toni and Barbara Mittermair, a couple who have dedicated their lives to their hotel. Perched up in the village of Glion, above Montreux, the property, built in 1869, boasts a superb view of both Lake Geneva and the Dents du Midi mountain range. The Belle Epoque interior takes you back in time and an especially gorgeous terrace provides you with amazing views. Book your table in advance…

Lunch, Relais & Chateaux Le Pont de Brent

An essential address in the region, this restaurant is among the best in the country. A lover of quality produce, Stéphane Décotterd achieves a rare level of perfection. His wife Stéphanie will give you a warm and friendly welcome. So you have no excuse for not visiting Le Pont de Brent. It’s more than a lunch, it’s a trip to the land of fabulous flavours!

On the route...

Les Rochers-de-Naye

A small rack-rail train takes you from Montreux to over 2,000m in altitude, above the cliffs and forests. There you’ll find La Rambertia, an alpine botanical garden which includes 1,000 species of alpine plants. And if you look hard, you’ll spot the marmots popping their heads out of their burrows. All this, just 55 minutes from the lake…
